EG 427 Announces Compelling Initial Topline Clinical Results with EG110A DNA Medicine in Neurogenic Bladder Patients

  • Over 88% reduction in urinary incontinence episodes achieved in low dose cohort at 12 weeks
  • Good tolerability with no systemic side effects
  • First DNA medicine to selectively target, at the local level, a specific subtype of sensory neurons
  • Fully validates mechanism targeting type-C sensory neurons, opening the door to a broad range of other neurological indications
  • Results validate EG 427’s proprietary HERMES nrHSV-1 technology platform

Paris, France, Oct. 02, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — EG 427, a biotechnology company leading the development of pinpoint DNA medicines for prevalent chronic diseases in neurology, announced today breakthrough initial results from a clinical trial of EG110A, its novel DNA therapy for neurogenic bladder. Treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) in people with spinal cord injury (SCI) with the lowest dose of EG110A was found to reduce the incidence of urinary incontinence episodes by over 88% by week 12, with effect already clearly established at week 4. EG110A also demonstrated a good safety profile in all patients treated to date.

“These initial clinical results showing a significant reduction in the number of incontinence episodes at the lowest dose are truly remarkable. Treatment with EG110A to date has been well tolerated, and we are currently dosing the second cohort of patients,” said Cornelia Haag-Molkenteller, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer at EG 427. “Although we are still early in the clinical development, for patients living with neurogenic detrusor overactivity who struggle with frequent, unpredictable urinary incontinence, we believe EG110A could represent a medical breakthrough. This reduction in urinary incontinence is expected to be highly relevant to patients living with neurogenic bladder and urinary incontinence for their well being and quality of life.”

EG110A is a non-replicating HSV-1 vector designed to selectively silence the signals of type C sensory neurons responsible for the bladder muscle overactivity, whilst preserving other bladder controls. NDO is a common urinary bladder dysfunction caused by SCI and other neurodegenerative diseases, such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

The Phase 1b/2a, open-label, dose-escalation study (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT06596291) is currently enrolling 16 adult participants with NDO following SCI, who have persistent urinary incontinence after standard of care therapy and who perform clean intermittent catheterization on a regular basis. Participants receive a single treatment course consisting of multiple intradetrusor injections of EG110A. The study is being conducted at four leading US institutions located in California, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Texas.

“These results, a first in the field of neuro-urology, represent a huge step in the development of safe and precise DNA medicines for chronic diseases, a long-term goal for the whole industry. We really owe this breakthrough to the vision and dedication of our scientific founders, François Giuliano, Pierre Denys and Alberto Epstein. Their pioneering approach and dedication to the field is now delivering clinical proof,” said Philippe Chambon, MD, PhD, Chief Executive Officer at EG 427. “For EG 427, as these validate a biological mechanism underpinning multiple diseases driven by type C sensory neuron activity, we can now envision developing EG110A more broadly in clinical studies in multiple underserved pathologies, including in the pain field. These initial clinical results also validate EG 427’s HERMES platform, a proprietary non-replicative HSV vector system designed for precise DNA delivery, without systemic exposure.”

NDO causes uncontrolled urinary incontinence, risk of kidney damage as well as urinary tract infections than can lead to death in 5-10% of the SCI population. NDO affects most (70-84%) patients living with SCI, an estimated total of 300,000-400,000 worldwide. Altogether, NDO affects at least 2 million patients suffering from SCI, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases, across the seven major markets and has a significant impact on their quality of life. The European Association of Urology recently estimated that incontinence caused by NDO and other indications, such as overactive bladder, represents a growing economic burden of over €69.1 billion in 2023 in Europe1.

These data will be presented by Dr. Chambon during the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa conference in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 11:15 AM MST. If you’re attending the conference and interested in a meeting to discuss these data in more detail, contact us on [email protected].

This research was supported, in part, by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs endorsed by the Department of Defense, in the amount of $3,165,836, through the Spinal Cord Injury Research Program under Award No. HT9425-25-1-0505. Opinions, interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations are those of the author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Department of Defense.

About EG 427
EG 427 is the global leader in non-replicating HSV-1 (nrHSV-1) vector technology in neurology. EG 427 has started a phase 1/2 study in the US with its lead DNA medicine candidate, EG110A, in patients with neurogenic detrusor overactivity (neurogenic bladder)-related incontinence. This is the first human study of this type of a vector targeting sensory neuron-based diseases. EG110A is being developed to addresses multiple severe bladder diseases, including overactive bladder (OAB), and has the potential to be a major improvement over existing therapies, resulting in better care for patients and lower costs for healthcare systems. The company’s unique HERMES platform delivers pinpoint neurotherapeutics to treat prevalent diseases of the peripheral and central nervous system. Its vectors can achieve focal transduction in specific regions and then selective expression of transgenes in targeted subsets of neurons thanks to the control of sophisticated regulatory elements. With demonstrated clinical safety and possible repeated dosing, the large payload capacity of nrHSV-1 vectors allows for versatile DNA delivery for smarter DNA medicine.

Body Poetry, versuri fotografiate pe pielea ta, o nouă campanie PhotoArt by Ralf

The Muse Series – Evenimente, expoziții și Gala

Despre PhotoArt by Ralf și fondatoarea Raluca Florescu

The Town House – Marbella, Malaga, Spain

” Unless you’re looking for it, you might just miss the unassuming entrance to The Town House – and that’s precisely the point. This serene, adults-only boutique spot tastefully incorporates its vintage Andalucian townhouse charm into an elegant design bolthole in the heart of old-town Marbella.”

Location

The hotel is tucked into a peaceful corner on a bubbly plaza dotted with orange trees, towards the lower end of the tangle of pedestrianised streets that make up Marbella’s old town. A quick stroll leads you through narrow alleys and past designer boutiques, the Moorish-era castle walls and the Plaza de los Naranjos. You’re a five-minute walk from the beach and promenade, and glitzy Puerto Banús is a six-mile (15-minute) drive west. It’s an hour’s drive to Ronda (38 miles inland) and 45 minutes to Málaga (35 miles northeast). Like elsewhere in the old town, parking isn’t possible, though you can drop off bags.

Style and Character

A sense of calm and quiet elegance seeps through this gorgeously refurbished 150-year-old Andalucian townhouse. You enter through a plush Alhambra-inspired lobby, under an elaborately carved arch that twinkles with neo-Moorish character. The graceful interiors fuse the original home architecture (tiled bathrooms, patterned ceilings) with contemporary Scandinavian and Italian design flair. Enormous gold-framed mirrors peek around corners, whites and neutral tones dominate, and greenery drapes down the twirling marble staircase. Ocean-blue and olive-green velvet armchairs and vanilla-scented candles fill the ground-floor lounge, from which tile-topped tables spill out onto the square.

Service and Facilities

Though you’re in a hushed, peaceful house, there’s always someone on hand to help, and the gracious English-speaking staff are both discreet and attentive. The secluded rooftop terrace, with its colourful patterned cushions and honesty bar, is a delight, especially at sunset when birds swoop around and the sensational views across Marbella’s rooftops to La Concha mountain turn pink-tinged. Grab something to read from the book collection on the ground floor, where there’s also a café-bar. Thoughtful extra touches include fresh fruit and bottled water in the rooms.

Rooms

There are just 10 vintage-feel rooms, each individually styled with soothing pastels, original tiling, smart antique furniture, muralled walls and/or whitewashed stuccowork. Most have tiny balconies or at least full-length windows, and all have professional hairdryers, beach towels, slippers, air-con and tea/coffee trays. Bathrooms are stocked with Molton Brown toiletries and are mostly completely covered in shimmering, swirly patterned Andalucian tiles.

Room 6 – with its antique four-poster bed, embroidered curtains, wood-beamed ceiling, shell-shaped sink and old India prints – is a fabulous choice and has a small balcony overlooking La Encarnación church just up the street. Also popular is romantic attic-like Room 9, all slanted ceilings and natural light.

Food and Drink

Breakfast is a smartly presented continental buffet with lots of choice and coffee made to order, available from 9am to 11am in the downstairs café-bar, outside on the old-town plaza or even on the sunny rooftop. Expect cheeses, cold meats, chopped fruit with yoghurt, fresh croissants and a choice of breads for topping with crushed tomato and olive oil. If you’re leaving early the team can put together a packed breakfast.

The café is open from breakfast to 11pm and, from the afternoon onwards, it morphs into a low-key bar with mellow beats and candle-lit lounge corners. Though there’s no restaurant, cheese platters and salads are served, and you only have to step outside to find a wealth of local restaurants and tapas bars. Many of the wines come from the owner’s vineyards in Romania.

Access for guests with disabilities?

There’s lift access to all rooms, though none of the rooms are specifically adapted.

Family-Friendly?

This is very much a romantic adults’ hotel; children over 14 are welcome, though there are no extra beds.

France extends cheese recall as crisis spreads beyond borders

French authorities have added four more contaminated products to their ongoing cheese recall as the crisis expands internationally, with affected French cheeses now withdrawn from stores across 30 countries.

The latest additions, announced between August 18th and 20th, bring both new Listeria and E.coli contaminations to the recall list that began with the mass withdrawal on August 12th. The domestic crisis has escalated dramatically, with over 20 people in France falling ill and at least two deaths confirmed from consuming contaminated dairy products.

International health authorities have now identified additional cases in Norway, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands, prompting coordinated recalls across global markets including the Unites States, Japan, and Australia.

Listeria Contaminations

Valmartin’s Emmental Râpé (1kg) sold through Promocash stores nationwide has been recalled, affecting products with January 2025 expiry dates distributed between late July and mid-August. Grand Reserva Leonardi Mascarpone Gorgonzola sold through Super U stores covers lot 250714 with August 23rd consumption dates, distributed throughout early August.

E.coli STEC Contaminations

Earl des Chapotons’ raw milk Crottins de Chavignol from lots 25/07 and 28/07 have been withdrawn due to suspected E.coli O145 contamination, sold nationwide between July 28th and August 13th. Additionally, Chèvrerie d’Amélie’s fresh goat cheese sold directly from their Indre farm affects lot 201, though sales were limited to July 21st only.

These new recalls add to the extensive list of Chavignol varieties already withdrawn, including products from Carrefour and Dubois-Boulay, all traced to shared production facilities during early August operations.

The dual bacterial contamination continues to pose significant medical threats. E.coli STEC symptoms typically appear within seven days, causing bloody diarrhea and severe abdominal pain, with children facing particular risk of kidney complications developing in 5-8% of cases.

Listeria infections can remain dormant for up to eight weeks before causing fever, headaches, and muscle pain. Pregnant women, elderly individuals, and immunocompromised consumers face heightened risks of severe, potentially fatal complications.

Consumers should immediately check refrigerators for any recalled products and dispose of contaminated items. All affected products can be returned to retailers for full refunds without receipts. The recalls remain active through September and October.

Banque Havilland Monaco to rebrand as Moncrief Private Bank

Banque Havilland (Monaco) SAM is set to relaunch under a new name following its acquisition by a group of international investors. The financial institution will rebrand as Moncrief Private Bank (Monaco) SAM in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The transaction, now formally approved by Monaco’s Commission de Contrôle des Activités Financières (CCAF) and France’s Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), brings the bank under new leadership with a stated commitment to both continuity and innovation. According to the new owners, clients will experience no disruption in service, with existing products, services, and relationship managers remaining unchanged.

In a statement released on Thursday 7th August, the bank’s new leadership said their immediate priority was to ensure a stable transition, while also laying the groundwork for a new phase of growth. The investor group, which includes fintech and wealth management figures with international reputations, has outlined plans to expand the bank’s service offerings and introduce advanced digital tools in the near future.

Among the investors is Jason Bates, a well-known entrepreneur and co-founder of UK digital banks Monzo and Starling. He is joined by Maksym Koretskiy, a wealthtech specialist with two decades of experience in private banking, and Jim McColl, a veteran business leader and Monaco resident for over 25 years.

The acquisition follows a period of uncertainty for Banque Havilland Monaco. In September 2024, the bank entered negotiations with another investor consortium after Andbank Monaco decided not to proceed with its previously announced offer.

Speaking about the acquisition, Patrick Dauguet, CEO of Moncrief Private Bank, said: “This acquisition marks a new chapter for the bank. The combined expertise of the new owners will not only bring more stability and excellence to the business, but their vision for a new digital offering in the region will bring added value to our clients over the coming years.”
